2012-07-19 Canoe to Salmon Arm

Another day well spent in paradise… A half-day cruise from Canoe public wharf to Salmon Arm harbour. Re-emerging beaches break the energy of boat-created waves before they turn into “moguls”.

Canoe Beach – once again – open to the general public after it flooded in the middle of June.

Placid conditions under a hot sun and blue skies near Christmas Island, Salmon Arm Bay.

The current lack of natural shorelines that can absorb the energy of boat-created waves still create “mogul waves” at Canoe. Waves are reflected by vertical walls of properties and bounce back into the lake only to collide with more incoming waves, creating conditions at the lake surface comparable to bouncing or dancing – hence “mogul waves”.
